How to use questions.
How does LapStacker work?
With its tensioned, retractable, straps, LapStacker is simple and intuitive to both install and use.
You pull the straps over the item(s) you’re carrying, clip the magnetic assist buckles together and roll with confidence.
When not in use, it tucks away discretely by your side.
Can I use LapStacker if I have quadriplegia / tetraplegia?
LapStacker has finger loops to aid in pulling the straps over your lap. This is particularly useful for those with reduced hand function, for example if you have quadriplegia (tetraplegia).
Also, the buckles have a built in magnet that guides the two sides together, so all you have to do is get them close and they’ll join like magic.
We have customers with a C5 injury that can use it and family, friends and carers also love to use it, even if you can't manage it on your own.
If for some reason it doesn’t work for your level of function you can send it back for a refund.

Can I use LapStacker with one hand?
Yes, there is every chance you can use LapStacker with one hand, provided the hand you use use has good function.
Please bear in mind that the higher the objects are stacked the more difficult it will be to use this one-handed method.
Watch the video to see how the magnetic buckles and finger loops make one-handed use possible.

How much does LapStacker weigh?
LapStacker Flex weighs less than a can of soda, which is approx. 11 oz. (300g)
LapStacker XD for power wheelchairs weighs approx. 21 oz. (600g).
Will it be in the way of my brakes?
LapStacker is designed to work with many different types of brakes. The key factor is clearance. Please refer to our fitting guide and installation guides to check what clearance is needed. If you still have questions, please contact us.
Does LapStacker fit on manual bariatric chairs?
LapStacker Flex is designed to fit wheelchairs with widths ranging from 12" to 22". For more information, please refer to our fitting guide.
For wider wheelchairs, you may need to work with a local sewing technician to lengthen the tension straps. This is a simple modification, and we can provide guidance if needed. We do not currently offer an off-the-shelf extension.
Can I change LapStacker between chairs?
The short answer is yes. Both LapStacker Flex and LapStacker XD are designed to be installed and removed easily, but you will still need to check that the install location and clearance is suitable for the LapStacker to fit on the other wheelchair. More details can be found in our fitting guide or full installation guides.
Will it work if I have an electric scooter or hand bike attachments? (eg: Batec)
This depends on the type of device you have and how the brackets mount to your wheelchair. See our fitting guide or installation guide to check the options you have and the clearance required. If you're still not sure, contact us and we'll be happy to assist.
Will LapStacker Flex slide around when you strap stuff?
The LapStacker Flex strap attachment system is secured to the chair well and doesn't slip. It uses adhesive velcro in combination with tension straps to prevent it moving forward or rotating around your chair.
The bonus is that if you want to take it off when travelling, on a plane for instance, to prevent damage this can be done in under 10 seconds. Just unclip the top and bottom tension straps and pack it away.
Where is the LapStacker made?
LapStacker is designed in New Zealand.
We looked at many different manufacturing locations and decided on balance that China was the best choice.
We chose our manufacturing partners very carefully after flying to China where we visited many factories. You can watch part our trip on YouTube here.
Are the magnets in the buckles strong enough?
The magnets in the buckles are more than strong enough to guide the two sides together. Then, once the straps are under tension, which happens automatically, the buckles latch together mechanically.
Is LapStacker latex free?
Yes the straps are latex free. They are made of nylon. They are not stretchy, the tension is created by a spring inside a retractor.

How to unjam the strap from your LapStacker XD
If your LapStacker XD strap has jammed, it's likely that the strap has twisted and jammed the locking mechanism. The remedy is to remove the cover from the Retractor housing and unjam it as shown in this video. click here

Always follow the usage guidelines in the installation guide for best performance and longevity.
