There, I said it.
Some people claim that becoming a wheelchair user after their accident was the best thing to happen to them.
While I admire that sentiment and can see the positives, I’d turn back the clock in an instant if I could.
After breaking my back I felt like giving up on camping.
The ground is uneven. Everything takes more effort. Packing the car is a challenge. Setting up the tent takes way longer and on it goes.
Instead of giving up, I searched for workarounds.
Last weekend I went on a boat-packing trip to the beautiful Lake Sumner.
Things were hard, yes.
Did I wish I could walk? Yes.
Did I employ workarounds? Yes!
One of which is the LapStacker, which makes carrying things over rough ground so much easier.
At the end of the day, I enjoyed an amazing weekend with my son and a great friend and his son.
And that is worth living for even when you can’t walk.
Here’s to living the greater than life!
